GoThisPlace uses two cookies*
Permanent cookie (Set to last 1 year) for either auto login your user profile or save your home location.
Session cookie (Set to last 30 minutes) to facilitate communication between you and the website. We are aware that a few have cookies switched off, maybe because of corporate policy, so we can be used without detriment using cookieless technology; we instead store your session information in your viewable address bar instead.

User profile
While GoThisPlace can be used anonymously, meaning you don't need to create a user and login in to use us. Certain action can only be performed when logged in; creating user posts, voting, gaining kudos.
We do request user information that is considered private information; Home location and email address.
We only ask for your Home location so that distances in searches can be correctly calculated. Obviously if you don't tell us where you live, how can we tell you have far it is from your house to anywhere. Because all distances are rounded to the nearest mile or kilometre it makes little difference if you only specify a general area as your home location. Maybe use a major road intersection close by your house - motorway junction for example. This will give you near identical results that can be used within GoThisPlace while protecting your privacy. Of course, we treat this information with the strictest privacy rules and would never give this to any third party, that includes website advertisers.
With emails, we only ask for this information, so that if you forget your password, we can re-email your password to you. We might use emails to communicate other security information with you, for example, if we believed someone else was using your GoThisPlace account.
Advertisers
We use two affiliate advertising networks; Google AdSense and TradeDoubler.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the
