Allestree Park

UK»England»Derbyshire»Derby»Allestree Park

Allestree Park is the wildest and most scenic of Derbys parks and comprises of a mixture of woodland, open parkland, a lake, a hall and a golf course. The Hall, a Grade II listed building, partly surrounded by tall trees provides a wonderful habitat for the abundant wildlife. The park is a great place for a walk, the path around the lake being particularly popular there is also a one and a half mile trail. The pets corner is particularly popular with children. There are a variety of birds and animals, including rabbits, sheep, ducks, hens and peacocks. It is important not to wander onto the golf course and to keep an eye out for stray golf balls when walking near the edge of the course.

Allestree Park Lake

Allestree Park Lake is a good sized lake of about seven acres set in a wonderful country park. There is an abundance of good sized fish carp ranging from 5 to over 20 pound, jack pike of around 6 to 7 pound, with a possibility of large pike up to 30 pound, and some nice large bream and tench can be had when they are located. Boilies do well for the carp, maggots and pinkies for the silver fish and bread and worms can catch good bags of bream with the occasional tench thrown in. The lake has good paths and is accessible for disabled anglers.
