Ashton Flashes: Ashtons and Neumanns Flashes are ideal sites for shorter walks or included in wider circular walks of the area. A wide variety of birds including waders and water fowl add interest to bird watchers while also making this area an important location for all nature lovers. Visitors can view the wildlife from three new bird hides, which are accessible to wheel chair users. Its industrial history has has altered the soil conditions allowing many unusual species to thrive, the presence of salt has allowed several seaside plants to establish, whilst the areas more recent industrial use as lime beds allow other species such as the rare dingy skipper butterfly to thrive.
