Ireland»Leinster»Avondale House

Avondale House: Home to Charles Stewart Parnell, a politician of Ireland between 1846 - 1891. The house is now a museum to his memory and has been restored to the look of 1850. It is set in 500 acres of an arboretum with exotic trees and forest. The forest lies mainly on the west bank of the Avonmore River covering 214 hectares of land. Deer can be seen at the enclosure at the entrance to the park. The park has six way-marked trails called river walk, cairn walk, exotic tree trail, pine tree trail, centenary trail and sli na slainte (Path to Health). There are ruins of a sawmill and well.
