The great whaleback ridge of Ben Wyvis, covered in a carpet of woolly hair moss.

The reserve is home to many interesting plants and animals. Red deer, ptarmigan, dotterel, golden eagle and large heath butterfly are all found here. The lower slopes support dwarf shrub heath and boglands with plants like dwarf birch, cloudberry and dwarf cornel. Also footpaths around the reserve.
