Blakeney Point

This 3½ mile long sand and shingle spit is a paradise for all kinds of wildlife. It is particularly noted for its colonies of breeding terns and migrant birds passing through in summer. Both common and grey seals can also be seen here.

Stiffkey Saltmarshes

An open expanse of saltmarsh, with winding tidal creeks and an array of unusual plants. The saltmarsh provides an important breeding habitat for several bird species and is an excellent feeding ground for wintering wildfowl and waders. The North Norfolk Coast Path runs along its southern edge.

How to get here

The A149 coast road, Sheringham to Kings Lynn, runs just south of the full length of Blakeney NNR.

Blakeney Point is accessible by boat. Ferries (not NT) operate from Morston Quay throughout most of the year, although these are tide and weather dependent.

Norfolk County Council's 'Coasthopper' service runs all year from Sheringham railway station to Hunstanton, stopping close to Blakeney NNR at Cley, Blakeney, Morston and Stiffkey.
