Sourton Tor

Excellent views north and west over the village of Sourton and beyond. Topped with a trig point.

Black a tor Copse

Small upland oakwood supporting one of the best examples of upland south-western lichen communities in Britain which cloak the oak trees. Several species of nationally rare lichens grow here. This is also one of the best places on Dartmoor to see breeding Ring Ouzels (Blackbird type bird with white breast), though due to concerns over disturbance it is suggested not to picnic or camp here, between 1 March and 15 July

Slipper Stones

Ridge running south and west of West Okement River, very steep towards river. Between 1 March and 15 July the valley is used by rare birds for nesting and it is suggested that you shouldn't linger, picnic or camp here.

Branscombes Loaf

Impressive block of granite, with a passing resemblance to a loaf. According to legend, placed there by the devil after he was thwarted in his attempt to possess a 13th century bishop with an offer of free bread and cheese.

Great Links Tor

As one of the highest points on the moor, 586 meters (1924 feet), has excellent views west. Tipped with a monolithic outcrop of granite 12 meters (40 feet) high.

Brat Tor

Granite tor topped with a 12 feet 8 inch (3.86 meters) cross commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887.

Bleak House

Built 1900 for the site manager of Rattlebrook Peat Works, it was a bleak location, hence it epithet. Abandoned 1930 to the mercy of Dartmoor, now little more than the remains of four walls.
