Cambridge County Folk Museum: Explore the life and times of Cambridge people in this friendly social history museum, which is housed in the former White Horse Inn. The Folk Museum is located in a fascinating timber framed building, dating from the 16th century. It has ten rooms which now contain exhibits illustrating the work and everyday life of the people of Cambridge, and its surrounding county, over the past 300 years. On display are tools and implements of the brickmaker, basket weaver, straw plaiter, boot maker, chemist, barber, tobacconist, chimney sweep and thatcher. Other exhibits include a 19th century kitchen, toys and games, City and University life, the Fens and local folklore.

Directions

Bus

There are several bus routes which pass close to the museum. The Madingley Road park and ride bus stops in Northampton Street which is around the corner from the museum entrance.

Train

There are regular trains from London throughout the day. Travel from either Kings Cross or Liverpool Street stations. .

Car

If you are travelling from London, the M11 motorway is the quickest route to Cambridge. Leave at junction 13, and follow the signs to Cambridge city centre. The museum is also just two miles from the A14.
