Swineholes Wood

The dappled light in the woodland areas makes this a pleasant woodland walk at any time of year.

The reserve is a particularly fine example of a heathland community which is transitional between the upland moorland of north Staffordshire (as seen at Black Brook) and the lowland heaths which you can experience at Cannock Chase. The reserve is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Car

From Leek take the A523 south-east towards Ashbourne. Turn right in the village of Winkhill then carry straight on at the first set of cross-roads. Casey Bank is situated approximately 1/2 a mile along this road on the left.

From Swineholes Wood: Continue along the road past Swineholes towards the A52. At the crossroads turn left. Casey Bank is approximately 1/4 mile on the right.
