Castle Sinclair Girnigoe: Girnigoe Castle was originally a late 14th century stone enclosure castle, with a keep-gatehouse. Standing on a promontory and defended by a deep ditch, is a late 16th century, five storey L-plan tower house, with the earlier West Gatehouse of the enclosure castle.

How to get here

Car

From the south
Continue through the centre of Wick on A96 heading north and, just after the Linsay's Coal Merchants on the left, turn right on Henrietta Street signposted Papigoe and Staxigoe. Take fourth right down Girnigoe Street signposted Staxigoe and Noss. First left on Willowbank again signposted Staxigoe and Noss. In Staxigoe turn left along single track toad signposted Noss and follow that to the car park near the lighthouse.

From the north
After the 30 mph limit sign the road turns right and after that take the first left on Henrietta Street signposted Papigoe and Staxigoe. Then follow the direction above.
