Chester Cathedral has a rich and fascinating heritage. It is a living community of prayer and worship, a centre of excellence in Church Music, and plays a key role for the Christian community across Chester, the Wirral and Cheshire. The 13th Century Refectory was built as the dining hall of the Benedictine Monastery. The wall pulpit, which is the finest example in the country, was used for the reading of the Bible during meal times. Kings have eaten here as well as countless monks and pilgrims. The Vestibule is the architectural prelude to the Chapter House, this extraordinary room is one of the architectural highlights of the Cathedral complex, and cannot fail to impress
