Cossington Meadows

Cossington Meadows: The area was quarried for gravel during the 1980's and 1990's, the pits were then filled with bricks and other 'inert' waste, with finer material laid over this. Some parts are covered with top soil and sown with grass while others were left to form deep lakes. A number of the original tall hedges were retained. The Trust has carried out work to create more shallow pools, re-profiled the steep banks of ditches and established reedbeds.
