Culzean Castle: 18th century castle perched on a rocky promontory, situated in 600 acres of woodland, formal gardens, follies and varied coastline. The Castle Armoury is home to a collections of arms. The site has a Victorian walled garden with vinery, wildlife garden, herb garden, children's adventure playground, swan pond, deer park, camellia house and gas house exhibition.

Legend

There are many reputed ‘ghosts of Culzean.’ Find out about the ‘white lady’, thought to be the ghost of an ill-treated maid, and the Earl’s piper who is supposed to haunt the labyrinth of caves in the cliffs under the castle.

How to get here

Bus

Stagecoach number 60/360 (Ayr to Girvan via Maidens) stops at the entrance to Culzean Country Park on the A719. There is a one mile downhill walk to the Castle/Visitor Centre from the Country Park entrance.
