Dutton Park

Dutton Park: Dutton park covers an area of open grassland, ponds, ancient semi natural woodland and new planted native woodland next to the River Weaver. The site rises from the grassed areas by the River Weaver through a wooded scarp slope to flat land. In the past the ancient sites had been threatened by poor grazing management. The Woodland Trust purchased the site in 2006 and are working to restore the site using its ancient flora as a starting point. Over 25,000 trees have been planted and an area of 2.75ha has been deep ploughed and sown with wildflowers. A number of ponds can be found across the site and after restoration recent surveys have shown a return by amphibians to the ponds.
