Ellerburn Bank

UK»England»Yorkshire»Ellerburn Bank

Ellerburn Bank lies on the Lower Limestone of the Corallian series of Jurassic rocks. This gives rise to a very shallow soil known as a rendzina. Hares, rabbits, badgers and deer visit the reserve from the surrounding woods. Forming the top north-west boundary is a double bank and ditch, which may be part of a late Bronze Age land boundary system.
