Ellesmere Port Boat Museum

UK»England»Cheshire»Ellesmere Port Boat Museum

Ellesmere Port Boat Museum: The museum is at the northern end of the Shropshire Union Canal, housed in what once, was one of the busiest transhipment ports in Britain, where goods were moved between canal craft and sea going ships. Visit the toll house gallery, Island warehouse, pump house, power hall, blacksmiths forge, stables and the waterways archives at Ellesmere Port Canal. The collection of traditional canal craft include narrowboats, canal barges, river barges, canal and river tugs, icebreakers and a coaster. Steam, diesel and gas engines have been lovingly restored and can often be seen in operation, as can blacksmiths and others as they practice their traditional crafts.
