Falkland Palace is an impressive Renaissance building and is the only Royal Palace in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. It was built between 1450 and 1541and was a country residence of the Stuart monarchs of Scotland for over 200 years. The orchard is one of the largest in the care of the National Trust for Scotland and remains in its original site from the 17th century. It also has the only remaining, original garden design by Percy Cane from 1948 which is a delight to visit from the first spring blooms right through to the autumn colours.
