Glemsford Picnic Site

UK»England»Essex»Glemsford Picnic Site

Although small, Glemsford Picnic Site is part of a much larger Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which includes the old gravel pits (not accessible to the public). In the summer there is an abundance of dragonflies and damselflies, while the sweet song of the Nightingale can be heard above the gentle babble of the river. Walking beside the river you may be lucky enough to spot a Kingfisher flash by or disturb a Heron fishing for its lunch. A wildflower meadow has been established where a variety of wildflowers and insects can be found.
