Great Merrible Wood

UK»England»Leicestershire»Great Merrible Wood

Great Merrible Wood: The wood covers 12 ha and is part of the Eyebrook Valley Woods SSSI. It is a good example of modified ancient woodland with 'layers' of canopy, shrub and herbs. Most of the wood is being managed with minimal intervention to encourage the growth of old trees, but coppicing is also carried out to benefit animals and plants.
