Guernsey Liberation Monument: A monument erected to commemorate 50 years of liberation from the German occupation. The monument was inspired by the neolithic monuments found on the island. The obelisk is surrounded by stone seating with a time writen on them, which on the 9th May (Liberation day), will have the shadow of the obelisk cast upon them at the time inscribed on the seating. Each layer of the obelisk represents a year since liberation, with the top layers representing the years under German occupation.
