Haileybury Sports Complex

Have used this gym for over a month as part of a pass and have been left than impressed. First of all i like many people want to just swipe my card and get a workout asap. This has not been avaliable due to the wait i have to endure because of no one present in reception. On to the gym itself, the equipment is really old and they have no heavy freeweights so if your a guy that likes to pump the iron your out of luck. There is also no air conditioning, which is ridiculous!! A lot of the time i felt like i was going to pass out because of lack of air and had to walk out to clear my head and gather some oxygen. Finally there a literally no staff members about to ask for assistance, i know i heard a rumour that this place likes to cut costs keeping staff to a minimum but this ridiculous. If a incident happened in the gym, no one would no!! Disgusting!!!

Me and my wife booked a court too play doubles. Payed for it and went in sports hall and the court was already set up. On closer expection the net had two gaping holes in it, so i tried to contact reception to get a replacement... no one there!! Tried again 10 mins later and still no one present. Ended up playing on till final which was not a wonderful experience. Seems like the place lacks management. The customer service was well.... non existent!!

Use this gym as it is local and pretty cheap compared to some. Whilst the gym is not great it has been quiet and allows me get on a machine. The issue i have is twice now i have basically been chucked out of the gym because the school needed to use it when i have been in the public allotted times. The timetable is broken up into public/school sessions and the school can (and have) charged in like a pack of wolves and put an end to your workout whenever they want. Spoken too a number of other people and this doesn't seem a rarity. Felt humiliated and angry that i have paid money and can be treated this way. Will pay extra somewhere else to get treated better and get a full workout!!

My mate got me a pass for the gym and i have used it a couple of times now. First things first is the people here like to play a game of ' try to get in the gym'. Everytime i have waited to get the code to get in there is the invisible man there and i have to be let in by customers. The gym itself is very outdated with equipment looking around 10 years old(no bench press, straight bar, ez bar, plates etc). Also it is very with claustrophobic with equipment very close, i felt i was rubbing bums with people most the time as there is very limited space!! No air condition, which is kinda crazy as i can imagine a lot of people could suffer heat exhaustion in the summer. Instead they rely on small open windows which has little effect!! Dirty machines which seem like they have just been pulled out an old attic with the amount of dust that has accumalated on them!! For a name as big as Haileybury i would of thought that the facilities would be up to par and customer service would be of a high standard- obviously not! Cannot recommend to you, or my friends.

Looks nice from the outside but Very dirty place inside, staff are almost none existent and when i did manage to find one of them the guy had a attitude as though i was an inconvenience for wanting to pay, facilities are far behind other sports centres that i have visited(gym especially)!Haileybury put some money into this damn place it is lacking it isnt even funny!! Not recommended!!

A mate invited me to play a game of squash at this place- would like to of played on the more modern courts but got an old one round the very back! Was having problems breathing as i have asthma and im guessing that was bought on by the thick amount of dust covering the surface of the courts. For all the money this place has you would think they might invest in some cleaning for their facilities!! But having heard from other people there... the public don't matter- they play second fiddle to the students- so i dont think that will change any time soon!!

Thought i would try out the gym as a friend recommended and had aquired passes for it and was not too impressed!! Tried the gym out and had to be let in by customers having waited around for around 15 mins!! Don't know wether they are short staffed or out the back office, but it is not acceptable to be left waiting around for a facility you have paid for!! Having spent most my energy trying to get in the gym, was dissapointed by the lack of equipment and just how small it is-all seems a bit crammed together and claustrophobic if you ask me! Another thing i noticed is that it doesn't seem to have any air conditioning- relying on opening the tiny windows which has little effect. Came out after about 20 mins as was left with a headache due too the heat- think i'll stick to elsewhere!

Went with mum and niece over the summer for a swim- when we arrived there was know one on the reception and were left waiting 10 mins before we gave up and went to change. Changing rooms were adequete size but really dirty, same with poolside!! Pool is actually really modern looking and was fairly empty (compared to other places i have been). One thing i look for when using a pool is how vigilante the lifeguards seem (especially with a littleone). Unfortunatley i caught the lifeguards turning there backs on the pool and chatting for an extended period of time. Also when babies in armbands were crossing the armband point none were been corrected even when they were in pointblank range of lifeguards vision! All in all it seems like it needs a bit more monitioring of staff and serious step up in proffessionalism!! Tried it out as had never been before, but would stick to our local sports centres!

The pool is v nice but dirty(pool tiles). Quite disturbing was that the first aid room to the side of the pool was open and i could see a lifeguard asleep on the bed!! Gym is lacking in equipment and is v small- if ur a guy that likes to alot use free weights your out of luck! Also no one on reception the couple of times i went so was stnding around like a lemon and had to be let in by customers!!! Would stay away and go somewhere like Hartham or Canons.
