Kensal Green Cemetery was the first of the great London cemeteries established to cope with the huge population explosion which London experienced at the height of the Industrial Revolution. It houses some spectacular pieces of Victorian Gothic mausoleum architectureand some illustrious residents, including Isambard Kingdom Brunel,Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex (the sixth son of King George III) and his sister Princess Sophia. English Heritage helped to restore the Dissenters' Chapel in 1997.
