Lydiard House, the delightful yet little known ancestral home of the Viscounts Bollingbroke lies in beautiful 18th century parkland sits within the Park which is open daily from 7.30am to dusk. There is no admission to this formal parkland and surrounding pasture which offer all the ingredients of a traditional country estate. Towering Lebanese cedars, avenues and carriage ways, an ice house and vistas of the house reveal grand designs at Lydiard Park. Paths and trails through the woods and by the lake also a pleasant place for a stroll. A woodland adventure playground offers bags of fun for children and barbecues are available for hire.

Barbeque

You are welcome to picnic in the grounds of Lydiard Park but fires and portable BBQs are not allowed. We do have barbeques available for hire during the summer season, priced at £35 for a large BBQ and £25 for a small BBQ. These must be booked in advance by calling Lydiard House on 01793 770401 (open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 5pm) - telephone bookings only please. As numbers of BBQs are limited, we recommend early booking.

In order to accommodate the demand for BBQs, we have recently introduced a new line of rapid hire BBQs, which can be either pre- booked or just hired on the day from the Café in the Visitor Centre. The cost is £10, which includes tongues. A refundable deposit of £27.00 is required.

You also now have the choice to purchase eco friendly self-igniting charcoal bags (1kg) for £2.00 from the Café in the Visitor Centre.
