Notton Wood

UK»England»Yorkshire»Notton Wood

Notton Wood: There are a number of pathways and tracks through woodland consisting of mostly pine and larch trees. Notton has some interesting woodland birds such as woodpeckers and jays. Kingfishers and heron can sometimes be seen near the pond and stream. Butterflies, including the comma, speckled wood and peacocks are often seen in the summer months. Within the wood there is a late prehistoric settlement site. Although difficult to find it is surrounded by a ditch with an inner and outer bank. The break in the ditch and banks on its south east side may have been the original entrance.
