The beautiful setting of the lakes makes it ideal for a gentle stroll. With two public footpaths as well as the private (permissive) footpaths through the excellent variety of woodland, river and open water habitats. Walkers are advised to take care as the paths can be marshy, narrow and steep in places.

Limited car parking is available at the entrance to Otterhead. The picnic area by the upper lake offers quiet views of the water.
