Pooles Cavern is one of the great caves of the Peak District it is 2 million year old, in natural limestone and was once used by cave dwelling ancestors for shelter. Pooles Cavern has been known as 'The First Wonder of the Peak' since the 1600's and visitors of the 21st century can discover the secret world of caves in the new visitor centre. Guided tours through the cavern begin every 20 minutes and expert guides will lead you on a one hour journey deep into the Peak Districts hidden landscape. The cavern is well lit with good pathways and only 26 steps throughout.
