Pooley Country Park

UK»England»Warwickshire»Pooley Country Park

Pooley Country Park has a diverse section of so many things to see and do. The park covers 62.5 hectares, one third of which is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, it contains several pools caused by mining subsidence, woodland habitats and it is situated on the Coventry Canal. A brilliant new Play Area was opened to the public in March 2006, thanks to generous funding from WREN (landfill tax credits), The Market Towns Initiative and Advantage West. Take a stroll along the footpath used by miners as long ago as 1846 the colliery site, on which this Country Park is now laid out, was the first to produce its own electricity (from excess steam), and has harnessed wind and solar energy to provide power to the Visitor Centre. See for yourself environmental sustainability in practice, and the mining memorabilia donated to the Centre by North Warwickshire miners.
