Quarry Park Disc Golf

UK»England»Warwickshire»Quarry Park Disc Golf

Quarry Park Disc Golf: It's simple and its fun. Disc golf is much the same concept as traditional golf as in the object of the game is to get the disc into the basket in as few shots as possible. Just like golf, it is played on 18 hole courses and shares some of the same vocabulary e.g. pars, birdies, putters, drivers. Using special discs which fly a lot further than the typical Frisbee used for recreational throw and catch, you chose your driver according to the desired flight trajectory and wind conditions. Disc golf is easy to play recreationally and the whole family can play together, including grandparents. Beware though, once you get hooked you will want to master all the different discs and shots.

Frisbee Disc Golf started in the 1970s and today there are over 2000 courses worldwide

Nationally - for travel between UK towns and cities the cheapest way to travel is often coach/bus. You can check timetables and fares at www.nationalexpress.com For example, it is possible to get a day return ticket from London (Victoria) to Leamington Spa for £15. Journey time is approximately 2hrs 45mins.
Locally - there is a bus stop about 600m from the course, on the A452 between Leamington and Kenilworth. There is a frequent service between Leamington and Coventry. Ask the driver to let you off at the stop closest to the Warwickshire Hospital. From the nearby roundabout take the exit to Old Milverton. The new access to the course is about 600m along on the right hand side.

You can get a train to a Leamington Spa from Birmingham or from London (Marylebone). If coming from other directions you may travel via Oxford or Coventry. From London refer to Chiltern Trains It is easiest to then get a taxi to the BPAS Blackdown Clinic on Old Milverton Lane. It's about 2 or 3 miles.

If travelling by car it is easiest to approach the course from the north side. From the junction of the A46 and A452 between Kenilworth and Leamington Spa, head south towards L/Spa. At the first roundabout take the second exit towards L/Spa, at the second roundabout take the third exit towards Old Milverton. After 600m turn right into the new entrance to Quarry Park.

Parking is only available at the main entrance. Please do not park at the BPAS Clinic, nor on the road.

The course will be open from 10 a.m. every weekend. Weekday opening will recommence in May 2009. Also open over Easter and on some weekdays during summer holiday period. It may be possible to open the course at other times for group visits by arrangement.
