Short Wood

UK»England»Northamptonshire»Short Wood

Short Wood: One of the remaining fragments of the ancient Rockingham Forest, a former mediaeval hunting forest. Four areas can be identified on the site, reflecting its diverse history, which includes ridge and furrow ploughing, grassland, elm coppice and mixed coppice with oak and ash standards.

The denser woodland provides a home for small mammals. If you are lucky you may see buzzards or red kites overhead
