St John Baptist Church, Cambridgeshire: St John Baptist church at Parson Drove is a typical Fenland church with noble nave arcades and superb a stone panelled arch and vaulted ceiling, in the 15 century west tower. The north aisle has a 13th century doorway and 14th century windows, while the south aisle was largely rebuilt about 1800 after the chancel was destroyed by a flood in 1613. Inside is light due to the large clear windows with mediaeval glass in the tracery, at every turn there are delightful carved mediaeval faces and there is a Perpendicular octagonal font and the pulpit dates from1677. This fine church is well worth a detour when visiting more celebrated churches nearby as is the churchyard which has some notable carved gravestones.
