Tissington Hall

UK»England»Derbyshire»Tissington Hall

Tissington Hall is a beautiful Jacobean Mansion tucked away in the Peak Districts wild rolling hills, and home to eight generations of the FitzHerbert family. Tissington Hall takes part in the Heritage Open Days Scheme whereby the Hall is open to visitors. Tissington Hall is also open during the Well Dressing season in Derbyshire where the village renowned for its six wells are all dressed for Ascension Day. Once known as, well flowering, the tradition is thought to have originated in Pagan times and was banned for a time by the early Christians, but this is a Derbyshire custom that is very much here to stay. Intricate and colourful, they are well worth a visit.
