Wirksworth Heritage Museum: Tracks, roads and railways have contributed to the importance of Wirksworth from pre Roman times to the present day. An interactive model of the Cromford and High Peak Railway shows how the challenge of its steepest incline was overcome by the winding engine at Middleton Top which is still in working order, and in steam monthly during the summer. See exhibitions from the Celebratory items of the Well Dressings through to the implements of the lead miners and quarry men, and working and living conditions these people triumphed over.
