Woodgate Valley Country Park: It is an ideal place to go for a leisurely walk, observe wildlife, walk the dog, ride on a horse or it can simply be a great place to get away from the noise and traffic of the city.

The park comprises 450 acres of many different habitats. There are many mixed, mature hedgerows, species rich meadows, woodland, small ponds and the Bourn brook running through its heart. Originally a mosaic of farms and smallholdings the park has retained much of its rural character.

Walks - With varied terrain and a rich landscape to explore, its easy to get yourself out around the park. You can set off on your own route or follow the specially designed routes to give you a true feel and flavour of the park.

Hole Farm Pony Trekking Centre

The centre is proud to have a range of 25 horses and ponies including Welsh Cobs, with this many there is always something to suit all ages and abilities even those who have never riden before.

By taking one of these led rides around the valley you can experience habitats and features of the park from a unique viewpoint.

Urban Farm

The Woodgate Valley Urban Farm is run by local volunteers as a registered charity and has a variety of farm animals, many of which are unusual or rare breeds.


How to get here


From Birmingham City Centre

Follow the Hagley road (A456) west towards the M5 and Quinton at the junction with the A4123 follow the signs for Woodgate Valley Country Park

From the M5 junction 3

Take the A456 towards Halesowen and take the first exit left (Lapal Lane South). Head up this road and turn left over the motorway into Close Lane. At the junction with Carters Lane turn right and at the roundabout left into Clapgate Lane.


The West midlands travel number 23 stops opposite the Visitor Centre on Clapgate Lane.
